So far, we learned hand shaking and posing on public speaking.
In the article, "Strike a Powerful Pose," the author shows the importance of posture.
I found another article about power posing on the Internet.
I totally agree with what the article says. First impression does not represent all of the person. However, we tend to judge the person by appearance including clothes and posing.
Therefore, how pose is important to make a better first impression.
In addition, posing have great effects on ourselves. As readings say that posing more open or leaning forward gives us more confident and better performance.
I am scared whenever speaking in front of many people. I do not like to do presentation, making a speech, or even saying my opinion in discussion, because I am not that confident. However, when we practiced power posing in the class, I do not feel such like before. Maybe power posing can be seen as just pretending, but it does have significant influence on our attitudes.
I attach a link from the article. Effect of power posing is actually proven scientifically too.
I am also scared of making speech to the audience. It makes me really nervous to think of speaking up in the class. And even the practice of power posing we did it in the class didn't make me feel better! but I may not have just noticed my change, haha.
ReplyDeleteI also thought the first impression was important. When I entered the RW classroom for the first time, I remember Ken was looking at me with smile. Now I know that he was trying to make my first impression.
Have a good night and a nice dream^^
Ayaka, this video is great and a wonderful contribution to our class. Thanks so much. Amy Cuddy is a really good presenter too, isn't she.
ReplyDeleteAyaka, this video is really interesting!! Her speech seems to be very convincing, maybe that is because she has confidence... I really want to make presentation like her. Thank you for introducing the video!
